Meditations is the album recorded by John Coltrane on November 23, 1965, at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in Englewood Cliffs, originally released in 1966 by Impulse! Records and produced by Bob Thiele. Featuring Coltrane on tenor sax alongside McCoy Tyner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on double bass, and Elvin Jones on drums, the record adds the additional voices of Pharoah Sanders on saxophone and Rashied Ali on drums, consolidating one of the pinnacles of spiritual free jazz. This reissue is part of the Verve Vault series, featuring an all-analog cut on 180-gram vinyl mastered by Ryan K. Smith from the original tapes and pressed at Optimal.
